THE MEDIA CENTRE
The media centre is a dynamic, user friendly environment for our children.
Despite the negativity towards reading, every effort is made to nurture a love of reading in our children. The history of our successes at the Kid’s Lit Quiz, proves that our pupils are reading extensively. We also challenge children to take part in a “readathon” each year, and the excitement and level of participation shown at World Read Aloud Day and World Book Day, speaks volumes.
Every class is afforded the opportunity to select reading material during the library period once a week. Over and above this, the Media Centre is open at breaks and a research facility is available after school for learners with additional needs. During alternate library periods, the focus is on enhancing research skills.
The media staff enjoy preparing the various displays in the Media Centre as much as we hope that the children enjoy seeing what has been made available to them.
A thank you must also go to the parents for the support that they give to their children. The fact that our book sales are so well supported is encouraging.
In the wise words of Dr. Seuss, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
